I’ve been coaching high school sprinters since I finished competing at the University of Connecticut back in 2000.

We train in hallways most of the year because I live in the northeast and no school has had an indoor track. The weight rooms? Not good.

An example of this would be a senior sprinter who had never run competed in track and field ran 49.29 in the 400 after only 4 months of training.

    High school coaches need to employ simple and effective training methods. I am an educator first, meaning I simply do not have the time to write 6 different workouts for 12 individuals. I live in a world where I coach hurdles, jumps, relays, sprinters, and middle distance. Last season we had over 100 athletes combined in our program. As high school coaches we need to figure out the most effective and simplistic manner to achieve the best results possible for our track and field athletes.
